Takeovers Continue as Amdocs Snaps up Qpass
Boston, MA - April 27, 2006 -- Strategy Analytics, the global research and consulting company, today released, "Mobile Media Management: Application Service Providers Step up Growth." The need to reduce costs associated with content service delivery will see carriers continue to rationalize content platform/ providers and look for managed service (ASP) solutions. Demand for content delivery solutions and managed services is also growing outside the carrier market, principally from large media brands and niche media/ technology players.
Service Director Philip Taylor states that "Overall, we estimate that by 2010, 70 percent of mobile content retailers (on and off-portal) will be using some form of ASP. This results in ASP revenues from mobile content reaching just under $5.2 billion in 2010, up from $1 billion in 2006."
Strategy Analytics also evaluates the companies competing for contracts, which range from large technology vendors such as Alcatel, Ericsson and Nokia to smaller solutions providers, such as Motricity and End2End--as well as companies such as Jamster, which are also involved in direct selling to consumers. As Global Wireless Practice, Vice President David Kerr points out, "The acquisitions of End2End and Qpass, by Mach and Amdocs respectively, illustrate the strategic value which content delivery ASP solutions offer. We anticipate continuing consolidation in this sub-sector."
