LCD TV and Games Consoles Will Drive Growth
Boston, MA - January 8, 2007 - Strategy Analytics analyst, Peter King, forecasts consumers worldwide will increase spending on digital home devices by 14 percent over 2006 spending, as evidenced by the growing number of companies offering large screen LCD TV at the 2007 International CES in Las Vegas.
Mr. King, author of the report for Strategy Analytics, "Digital Home Entertainment Devices: Quarterly Report Q4 '06," predicts that digital cameras and MP3 players will be the most popular items this year. In terms of revenue, however, LCD and plasma TVs are the star performers.
King also identifies a trend toward IP network-enabled devices as the next important wave in the migration toward digital homes. Examples of such devices include fixed and portable games consoles and set-top boxes. "Content-shifting technologies are in evidence all around the CES show. This hot and growing trend should translate to rapid adoption in the marketplace," states Peter King, Director of the Strategy Analytics Connected Home Devices Service. By 2010 we expect over 25 percent of Digital consumer electronics devices to be network-enabled."
