A Few Clouds on an Otherwise Bright Weather Channel iPhone Mobile Application
Icon Representation and Placement Only Issue with Users
San Diego, USA - 6 May 2008 - The latest benchmark analysis from the Strategy Analytics Wireless Media Lab, "Sunshine with Scattered Showers for Weather Channel's iPhone Application", evaluates the recently launched Weather Channel application for the Apple iPhone across its core features including adding a location, checking current conditions, checking forecasts and using different maps to check surrounding weather conditions.
Strategy Analytics has determined that the Weather Channel mobile application has no major usability issues, and minor usability issues related to icon representation and placement. Almost all respondents were pleased overall with the mobile application's ability to complete all tasks.
"Many users commented that the Weather Channel application is very easy to read, user-friendly, self-explanatory and features a pleasing design that is consistent with the iPhone look and feel," noted Christopher Dodge, User Experience Analyst at Strategy Analytics. "Additionally, several participants were impressed with the mapping features within the Weather Channel application."
Paul Brown, Senior User Research Experience Analyst at Strategy Analytics added, "The Weather Channel mobile application works well. It is simple and intuitive, with value-added features that respondents want to use."
