Mobile Industry Guide for 2009
London, UK - 4 March 2009 -The Strategy Analytics Wireless Enterprise Strategies report, "Reading Between the Lines at MWC 2009: Key Trends in Enterprise Mobility," highlights key themes that will guide the mobile industry in 2009, from the Barcelona Mobile World Congress Show.
The Mobile World Congress trade show always highlights key trends and developments or themes that indicate the direction that the mobile world will take over the coming year.
- Business intelligence (BI) moved to the forefront at MWC 2009, driven by the shift to subscriber-centric service models, which will see BI take center stage in business and consumer markets. "A focus on gathering business intelligence about subscribers, that had previously been less of a focus, is now used to personalize customer experience and increase customer service `stickiness' for both consumer and business markets," according to the author of this report, Andrew Brown, Director of the Strategy Analytics Wireless Enterprise Strategies service.
- The need to take fragmentation out of the mobile industry was one of the strongest messages to emerge from the MWC 2009. Many parts of the mobile ecosystem are now working together on a number of initiatives aimed at reducing complexity creating simplified business models aimed at minimizing cost and offering improved services.
- End-user desire to engage broader lifestyle requirements as well as business needs was quite visible from both device and service providers. "While the business models for consumer and business markets have clear differences, the way companies approach both sets of users shows the strongest signs of convergence yet," added Brown.
