'Green' Phone Opportunities Expand
Eco-Conscious Consumers Demand High End Products
Boston, MA - 24 April 2009 - The Strategy Analytics Wireless Device Lab report, "Environmentally Friendly Phones Must Not Compromise on Features or Design," found that while environmental sustainability is not top priority for most consumers, there is a significant number of consumers who are willing to pay more for a mobile phone which has been manufactured in a sustainable, ethical and eco-friendly manner, and which has a low impact on the environment during use. This report analyzes environmental sustainability as a factor in mobile device purchasing as well as consumer interest and willingness to pay for an environmentally friendly phone.
"The same consumer segments that will pay a premium for environmental sustainability are those who seek out, and can afford to pay for, a mobile device with advanced features, high end styling and superior quality materials, and which offers an innovative experience," according to Paul Brown, Senior Analyst in the Strategy Analytics User Experience Practice.
"In order to establish a credible, environmentally-friendly brand image, a company must demonstrate its commitment to green credentials throughout its entire organization, across all of its practices and product lines, and along its entire supply chain," added Kevin Nolan, Vice President at Strategy Analytics. "Companies must institutionalize `green.'"
