Strategy Analytics: Automotive Voice HMI at Critical Stage


Boston, MA - May 25, 2010 – Automotive technologies that use voice to control the user interface confront inherent user experience challenges which are different from all other forms of user input, such as touchscreens and traditional buttons.  In addition, accuracy and dialog design have negatively affected usability and widespread consumer acceptance, according to a recent Strategy Analytics Automotive Consumer Insights (ACI) report, “Voice HMI: Connected Car Opportunities and UX Best Practices.” The report also provides best practice recommendations for voice interface designers.

“While speech as a user interface has come a long way in terms of accuracy for simple tasks,” commented Chris Schreiner, Senior Analyst at Strategy Analytics, “The promise of the voice-controlled connected car with more complex features may negate these advances.”
