Price Benchmarking the Mobile Services in Emerging Markets
Can Eastern European markets still be considered as “emerging” when prices are in same range as OECD Countries?
London, UK –June 17, 2010 – The new Emerging Markets Price Benchmarking system from Strategy Analytics is now expanded to cover Eastern Europe. Price data from over 1000 mobile service tariff packages in 22 countries show that the prices in Eastern European countries are in the same range as prices in Western Europe. The best prices in Russia, Uzbekistan and Romania are now similar to those in the Nordic countries.
Strategy Analytics is offering insight into the prices and price structures offered by mobile operators in a wide range of countries around the world. The price benchmarking systems offered by the Teligen division of Strategy Analytics cover not only the 30 OECD countries, but also 22 Arab countries in Middle East and North Africa, 20 other countries in Africa, 19 countries in South and Central America and 22 countries in Eastern and Southern Europe. Tariffs from 266 operators in 113 countries are covered by this consistent collection of price data and benchmarking systems, based on the world standard OECD Price Benchmarking methodology.
Teligen Director, Halvor Sannaes, says, “Never before has it been possible to have a consistent measure of mobile service prices across such a wide range of markets.”
Tariff Analyst, Pawel Kmiec, who has worked on collecting and structuring this data adds, “There have certainly been some surprises in the Eastern European tariffs, some things are done in different ways from what we are used to.”
