CarVP and Infoservice Develop Differentiated Aftermarket Solutions
Boston, MA - July 20, 2011 – Boston, MA - July 12, 2011 - Recent Strategy Analytics research shows that the shipment of aftermarket telematics units and services in China will grow from just under 300,000 units in 2011 to over 750,000 units in 2018, presenting a CAGR of 15 percent. This report from the Strategy Analytics China team, “China Differentiated Methods in Aftermarket Telematics - CarVP & Infoservice,” highlights the differences between the lower growth potential and relatively small market volumes in aftermarket telematics compared to the OEM market.
While aftermarket telematics solutions are relatively small, China as a whole offers such large opportunities that even specialized solutions that require high levels of customization can provide significant revenue. As a result, aftermarket companies can become the primary drivers of many new product and service opportunities in both consumer and commercial telematics markets.
"The aftermarket telematics opportunity will play an important role in the future, but it is facing a tough market environment. Therefore, aftermarket telematics providers must develop flexible, pragmatic and differentiated products and service solutions, as well as appropriate market positions," said David Xu, Senior Analyst in the Automotive Multimedia and Communications Service at Strategy Analytics.
