Japan Rebuilds as BRIC Regions Expand
Boston, MA - August 2, 2011 – The Strategy Analytics Automotive Multimedia and Communications Service (AMCS) predicts that the rise in global vehicle production –and the increased use of infotainment solutions for communications, entertainment and navigation – will grow global market revenue for automotive OEM and aftermarket infotainment systems from $34.5 billion in 2010 to $48.5 billion in 2018, a CAGR of 4.4 percent in its report, “Automotive Infotainment Systems Q3 2011: Japan Recovers as BRIC Regions Expand.”
“Japan is rebuilding after the earthquake, which means component part and vehicle production is being reestablished,” said Mark Fitzgerald, Associate Director of the Strategy Analytics North American Automotive Services. “The supply chain will be rebuilt by the end of 2011; parts and vehicle production will return to normal levels in 2012.”
Revenue opportunities in OEM-based infotainment and telematics solutions will increasingly outpace both the aftermarket and Portable Navigation Devices (PND) market opportunities through 2018.
“Aftermarket infotainment and PND revenue opportunities will continue to decline through 2018,” said Richard Robinson, Director of the Strategy Analytics Automotive Multimedia and Communications Service. “Both unit demand and average sale prices are declining, reducing overall revenue potential.”
