Managing Devices, Apps, Android and M2M Hot Themes
Boston, MA - November 1, 2011 – Enterprise mobility dominated the CTIA Enterprise and Applications 2011 October show in San Diego, according to the latest Strategy Analytics Wireless Enterprise Strategies report, “
From MDM to M2M: Key Enterprise Mobility Trends at CTIA Enterprise and Applications 2011.” There was a real buzz around the topics of mobile device management (MDM), applications, Android, M2M (machine-to-machine) and unified communications.
“The CTIA Enterprise and Applications Show is an excellent bellwether for the direction of the wireless enterprise market,” said Andrew Brown, Director of Wireless Enterprise Strategies and author of the report for Strategy Analytics. “The October 2011 show was no different, highlighting:
- Concerted efforts to make the Android platform “enterprise ready;”
- How the entire ecosystem needs to manage devices and apps; and
- Massive M2M market growth.”
Gina Luk, Senior Analyst, Wireless Enterprise Strategies, added, “The growth in consumerization and BYOD (bring your own device) has been particularly evident in the US. The need to manage personal-liable devices, especially iOS and Android, has never been greater. What emerged from CTIA is how carriers and OEMs are working in close association to make their products enterprise-ready in order to tackle this growing trend.”
As highlighted by Strategy Analytics at the beginning of 2011, the ability for companies to securely enable vital applications like unified communications, on smart devices, whether company procured or personal-liable, will be essential for driving down costs and gaining competitive advantage. M2M will also be critical in order to meaningfully connect devices and processes.
