Allegro Captures 28 percent
of the $890 Million CY 2011 Demand

– Allegro Microsystems holds a 28 percent
market share in the automotive magnetic semiconductor sensor market – 7 percent
higher than its nearest rival, according to the Strategy Analytics Automotive
Electronics report, “Automotive
Magnetic Sensor Semiconductor Vendor Market Shares 2011.”
Allegro’s strong share of key engine
management magnetic sensors for camshaft and crankshaft sensing along with
strong growth in current sensing applications such as those used electric power
steering systems has made them the market leader in automotive magnetic
sensing.
According to Mark Fitzgerald, Associate Director in the
Strategy Analytics Automotive
Electronics Service, “Automotive magnetic semiconductor sensor vendors are
vying for share in the expanding, yet extremely competitive market for magnetic
speed, position and current sensors that are used in automotive engine and
transmission applications to limit harmful emissions and reduce fuel
consumption as well as providing precise control of safety and comfort systems
throughout the vehicle.”
