Strategy Analytics Launches Digital Home Observatory at CES 2009

User Experience Expertise Identifies Transformation in Digital Home User Behaviors

Boston, MA - 6 January 2009 - To coincide with this week's international Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, Strategy Analytics is delighted to announce the launch of its new user experience research capability, Digital Home Observatory (DHO). DHO will investigate the transformation of digital home device and service usage brought about by the emergence of the networked home and online media. It will explore purchase motivations, product satisfaction and barriers to trial, use and retention for consuming digital media.

The Digital Home Observatory has already successfully supported clients active in television web browsers, one of the hot topics at this year's CES. DHO found that 81% of survey respondents showed interest in accessing web-based services on their TV sets.

David Mercer, VP, Digital Consumer Practice, comments, "Digital home technologies, such as broadband and online media, are presenting major new growth opportunities. But vendors and developers will not reap the financial benefits until they overcome the significant user experience challenges associated with complex networked device platforms."

The Digital Home Observatory will identify the user experience challenges of existing solutions, analyze the barriers to providing a superior user experience and provide clients with a roadmap to success in developing market-leading user experience.
