Vodafone and Three Lead UK Mobile Phone Portals

Usability and Design Key Factors in Consumer Preference

Boston, MA - 7 January 2009 - The Strategy Analytics Wireless Media Lab service research, "UK Mobile Portals: Vodafone and Three Maintain Lead," shows that consumers in the UK prefer mobile operator portals from Vodafone and Three in terms of usability and design over portal offerings from O2, Orange, T-Mobile, and non-operator MSN.

These findings are based on in-depth one-on-one research sessions with participants in London, England.

"Strategy Analytics research shows that consumers preferred the design of the Vodafone Live! portal, which was seen as more modern than its competitors," commented Chris Schreiner, Senior User Experience Analyst at Strategy Analytics. "However, they were not satisfied with the number of icons on the portal homepage."

Kevin Nolan, Vice President of the Strategy Analytics User Experience Practice, added, "Our research shows that consumers require a simple but informative purchasing and downloading experience. Also, when searching for mobile content most operator portals have room for improvement."
