Smart Home on the Lips of Big Brands
Boston, MA - January 17, 2012 –Representatives of Strategy Analytics observed that Smart Home products and solutions were evident in every hall of the 2012 International CES, as well as on the lips of companies such as Cisco and IBM, which are investing in opportunities to support home automation solutions. Verizon provided an update of its newly launched Home Monitoring and Control service that is gaining traction with its FiOS customers, an indication that remote home monitoring applications are driving adoption. Additional Smart Home visions include:
- Lowes introduces Iris with a host of partners;
- Trane and Schlage unveil the Nexia™ brand to solidify their presence;
- Stanley Black & Decker expands its presence; and
- Smart appliances from LG, Samsung and Whirlpool.
“The good news is that major brands are moving into the smart home market to build awareness and introduce innovative solutions,” stated Bill Ablondi, Director of the Strategy Analytics Smart Home Strategies advisory service. “However, to reach its full potential the smart home industry needs to create that special magic to move solutions from “nice-to-have” to “must have.”
